Posted Date: 4/02/25 (9:33 PM)

We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Kyle Fleshman, a beloved high school math teacher at Putnam County R-I, has been named the MSTA Northeast Region High School Educator of the Year!

In a surprise celebration surrounded by students, colleagues, family, and representatives from the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA), Mr. Fleshman was recognized for his outstanding contributions to education. The announcement was made by MSTA Northeast Region Service Coordinator, Keri Cottrell, during a special visit to the school.

From Google Sheets wizardry to making upper-level math concepts both fun and meaningful, Mr. Fleshman is known for engaging students in a way that sparks curiosity and builds confidence. He brings energy and innovation into the classroom, while also serving as the Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach, husband to Mrs. Brook Fleshman, and dad to Emmitt and Bayler.

In addition to his teaching and coaching duties, Mr. Fleshman has served on various district committees and is highly respected among peers for his leadership and collaborative spirit.

To be selected for this award, Mr. Fleshman was nominated by fellow CTA and MSTA members at Putnam County R-I. He completed a written application and was interviewed by an MSTA panel at their headquarters in Columbia, Missouri.

“I am truly humbled and grateful to receive this award. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside outstanding math educators, colleagues, and administrators who have played an essential role in shaping my growth and success as an educator. Equally, I’ve been fortunate to teach so many incredible students, and I hope that they have not only become stronger mathematicians but also more successful people after our time together.”

His dedication to academic success is unmatched, and his leadership inspires both students and staff. We’re incredibly proud to see him honored for the impact he makes every single day at Putnam County.”

— Mrs. Tiffani Klinginsmith, PCHS Principal

"We are incredibly proud of Mr. Fleshman’s dedication and thrilled to see his hard work recognized across the region,” said Dr. Heath Halley, Superintendent. “He represents the very best of what public education is all about.”

As part of this recognition, Mr. Fleshman will receive a plaque$500, and $100 for his CTA at the upcoming MSTA Spring Banquet.

This marks the second consecutive year that a Putnam County R-I educator has earned this prestigious honor. In 2024, Mr. Jeremy Watt was named the Northeast Region High School Educator of the Year, while Mrs. Haley Watt received recognition as the Northeast Region Education Associate of the Year.

We are incredibly proud of Mr. Fleshman and grateful for the positive impact he continues to make on our students and school community. Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved honor!
